The short version
Snapwise edits your photos on your own device. There is no account and no photo upload — we never see your images. A small amount of anonymous usage, crash, and advertising data is collected by the Google services listed below so we can keep the app working and free.
1. What Snapwise does with your photos
You choose photos through Android's built-in system photo picker, which does not grant Snapwise any ongoing access to your gallery. Every edit — filters, background removal, crop, collage, and every other tool — runs entirely on your device using on-device machine learning (Google ML Kit). Edited photos are saved back to your device's gallery (Pictures/Snapwise) via Android's MediaStore. Your photos are never uploaded to us or to any server we operate.
The optional Private Vault stores copies of photos you add to it in the app's private, sandboxed storage, locked behind a PIN you set. Vault contents stay on your device and are removed if you uninstall the app.
2. Information collected by third-party services
Snapwise uses the following Google services to operate, understand usage, catch bugs, and show ads that keep the app free. Each of these may collect device identifiers, general device/app information, and (for ads) advertising identifiers, and transmit them to Google. We do not receive or store your photos through any of these services.
| Service | Purpose | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Google ML Kit | On-device photo segmentation, text recognition, face detection | Processing happens on-device; Google may collect anonymous diagnostics/usage telemetry about the ML models themselves |
| Firebase Analytics | Understand which features are used, app stability trends | App interactions, device/app info, approximate location (country-level), installation identifiers |
| Firebase Crashlytics | Detect and fix crashes | Crash logs, device/app info, installation identifiers |
| Google AdMob | Display ads (banner and app-open) that fund free use of the app | Advertising identifier, device/app info, and — only with your consent where required (e.g. EEA/UK) — data used to personalize ads |
Where required by law (including the EEA, UK, and Switzerland), Snapwise shows a consent form before requesting personalized ads or advertising identifiers, via Google's User Messaging Platform. You can change your choice at any time from Settings → Privacy → Ad choices in the app, or reset your device's advertising ID / opt out of ad personalization in your Android system settings.
3. What we don't do
- No account or sign-in is required or offered.
- We don't upload, store, or have access to your photos.
- We don't sell personal data.
- We don't request broad photo-library, storage, camera, contacts, location, or SMS permissions.
4. Your choices
You can withdraw or change ad-consent choices at any time in-app, limit ad tracking or reset your advertising ID in your device's Google Settings, and remove all local app data (including the Private Vault) by uninstalling Snapwise or clearing its storage in Android's app settings.
